Welcome
to the ISAA Health and Genetics website. We are pleased
to introduce this data base to our members and friends worldwide.
The
ISAA Board of Directors is committed to providing
easily accessible health information so that breeders and those researching puppies can make the best decisions possible.
Our ultimate goal is to provide the information in several languages
so that we are inclusive of our worldwide Icelandic Sheepdog community.
As our breed grows, it is incumbent that we work together and share
information freely so that we can insure the continued health of this ancient breed. The website is designed specifically
to meet that need.
Our health records meet two standards. We will make every effort to
only present information that is:
- accurate and
- based on documented, verifiable information.
We believe that the viability of our breed depends on open health data
bases. Many other countries have exhibited leadership in this regard and we applaud their efforts.
Our Health and Genetics Committee is currently compiling an International
database of information regarding eye health.
We will not post information that is based on innuendo and encourage
you to reject such information if it is provided to you from another source.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Knox Rhine and Maggy Pease for the tremendous
gift of time and expertise that they provide to the club by managing this website. Please contact them directly with questions
or concerns. Maggy Pease is our liaison to Iceland and is fluent in Icelandic.
Please enjoy the site. We are open to suggestions and welcome your
feedback.
Best
regards,
Donna
